Days come and Days go. X'Mas has gone and so has the New year. But there is no end to celebration in India. One or the other thing, People have found reasons to make themselves happy. Probably that is the only way out now a days to become happy or else everyone is dis-satisfied with one or the other reason. Be it a love relation issue or a professional incompetence or low appraisal. Anyways appraisals are around the corner and have heard from a loct of people that they are not getting the hikes which they were expecting earlier. So here comes the opportunity of taking out all these frustration. It is time for another festival - HOLI. The festival of colours. When you can actually take out your frustration on anyone by spreading colours on his/her face and leaving them with just a big grin. Be it your Boss or envious colleagues, the girl whom you love alot for past 5 years without letting her know the feelings of your heart or any new neighbour.

Till the time I was in lucknow, I used to play Holi like a fanatic. But once I left my hometown I realized that Holi is now a days only confined to few states. It has lost it's charm in last few years. And in cities like bangalore there are a very few people left out who actually celebrate it in terms of playing colours. Festivals, in India, are now a days becoming a formality too. It has just become the way to wish others on mobile through SMS or to leave a common message on Facebook for friends. All have become so busy in this tech-savvy world that they do not have time to play colours with their friends, family and society people. Holi earlier meant that all the friends will be coming together and will be playing colours in the morning starting from their own home and which will end up by going to every person's home they had ever known in their own city. Then they will be calling each and every friend/relatives of themselves across the globe just to wish them a Happy Holi. Now a day it has lost charm. Nobody is bothered to play colours or even to wish others a Happy Holi.

When I used to be a child, I used to wake up early atleast on the Holi morning, used to arrange for differnt colours, balloons, water, buckets and Gulaal. Then the task was to find a place to hide from where we can attack our victims without getting seen or caught easily. Fill the balloons with coloured water or fill up the 'Picch-kaari' and then wait calmly for our victim. Sometimes it was some one on bike or the neighbor-hood aunty whom we colored in the colors of happy and then the complaints it used to reach our parents. After that we used to go to different friends' places and used to take them along with us and so we ended up making a big " Tolii ". There were many places in our society where uncles have arranged for DJ. We used to dance there like freaks on famous songs of ' Holi khele raghubeera ' and ' Holi ke din sab Mil jaate hain ' along with the recites of "Bura Na Maano Holi haii".

Now it has become almost impossible to find the same  things in todays' advanced era. People dont have the time to come out of their home and meet their neighbors or friends. Even calling up all the friends has become a herculean task for them. People are becoming so parochial in the way of their thinking that they dont wanna do anything. Is just a way to sit at home and relax for them. We have just lost the real essence of Holi....Isn't it.....? ? ?

Holi......It was the best way to socialize and not to forget our roots or our basic nature of being a human as We all are a social animal and we are nothing without each-other. Wake up now and Don't forget Holi this year and atleast wish all your near and dear ones by making them a personal calls if not visits. Facebook can not share all of your emotions and can not maintain your relationships the way you want. It will just remain like a formality as you all have a friend list of 400-500 formal frineds out there not even to say hello to each other.

Wish you all a Very Happy Holi......buraa naa Maano Holiii Haiiii.......! ! ! ! !
